Busy

Still feeling not too well but some work has to be done.
At unit EC 4 we have to force the hydrogen out of the generator to perform some repairs; the hydrogen consumption is too high again.
A few weeks ago the leaks were fixed but again som gaskets are leaking, together with some new ones.
So now we aim for a new set of (better) gaskets.
Time to do some other repairs at the auxiliary steam system too.

The picture however is of the main distribution transformer, to supply our own grid. It transforms from 23KV down to 6.6KV but the step motor that regulates the voltage on our "house grid" apparently is defective so we have to adjust the voltage by hand by means of a crank; not so often, just when we have to change the reactive power, due to the demand on the main grid.

Notice the sprinkler system, (the grey piping), supplying an enormous amount of water when the transformer should be set on fire.
It is filled with oil and fitted with a big naturalflow oil cooler.
The silvery (aluminium) ducts contain the strips, connecting the 23KV grid to the primary side of the transformer.

Can't wait till my relief is coming (4 more hours to go).

Here in LARGE....
