The Great Tear-apart

This statue is suffering from metal-fatigue.
It is literally tearing apart under its own weight.

It is called "de Grote Verscheuring" made by the artist Pierluca degli Innocenti in 1965.
The name can be translated into "the Great Tear-apart", which is sort of what is happening here.

The original statue was one large lumb of bronze, which was torn apart by an explosion, but this is an aluminum replica of it.

The artist was moved by the tragedy of the Algerian war in the 60's and the impact it had on the french people.

Here is another view of the statue.

Since I'm uploading today's blip this early, don't forget to look at yesterday's blip.
