Crane activity

Bombay High Field is a busy location with lots of offshore activities going on. You can find all different kinds of offshore installation vessels over here, from antique to brand new. What you see here is the HLS-2000 a monohull cranebarge from an era that offshore construction started. It was built in 1963, but nevertheless her crane is (or was) able to lift 2500 tonnes. In the background you see the Hermod, a semisubmersible cranebarge, also not brandnew but defenitively not antique. The difference between a monohull and a semisub is the same as the difference between a catamaran and a rowing boat. A catamaran is much more stable in rough weather, that's basically all you have to know.
