Queen Elizabeth Park - The Pownall Gate was dedicated to Charles Arthur Pownall a barrister and solicitor who was elected Mayor at the age of 24yrs in 1889. He had a special interest in the beautification of the town and park. In the early 1960's an arch was erected over the gate bearing the words "Queen Elizabeth Park".
The park consists of the following:
Wairarapa Soldiers Memorial, Pioneer Cemetery, The Hosking Garden, Brass Band Rooms and Rotunda, Grandstand and Sports Bowl, Lake of Remembrance and a small Railway.

Today we travelled to Wellington to help with Daughter A and returned to Masterton in the early afternoon. After tea a stroll round the town and finishing at Henley Lake to catch the sunset.
