Gentleman Jack

A day off work making and hanging doors in preparation for the visitors. Nice work. I think I could happily be a carpenter, pottering away all day measuring and banging and cutting and joining.

It was assembly at Ewan's school so I downed tools for that and watching him and his class entertain the rest of the school with wee songs and stories. Then we got a mooch around the class to see what he's been up to.

Ikea. Beds for the visitors. This is more visitors than ever so they need somewhere to sleep and Ewan's excited not just because it's two cousins he's never met. And two older cousins at that, but he gets the bedroom when they've gone. A bedroom to himself. How exciting.

Picked up Alan at the airport off the 10.30pm flight, with the pleasure of getting completely robbed by the car parking but home for chat and catching up. It's been about 10 years since we were in the same room. We're a close family. But he had a bottle of special Jack Daniels - Gentleman Jack - so we chatted until we were completely caught up. Gentleman Jack's only half the man he was.
