Travel

Blaze was released by the coroner yesterday and I had to choose how he should be transported back to Christchurch (a 5 hour trip). I was offered the option of travel by hearse OR as freight in a truck. I knew he would have got a kick out of the idea of being freighted so it was an obvious choice.

My sister and brother-in-law own a freighting company and Mike offered to pick the ‘package’ up when it arrived in Christchurch and deliver it to the funeral home. As soon as the idea was suggested the rest of the family wanted in on “Blaze’s last road trip” too. So off they went, travelling in the back of the van with him. Not a legal trip of course, with no seatbelts but it was important to them to be part of it.

Here we have 2 of my nieces, 3 nephews, a sister and a brother-in-law. They made the final ride fun for him, telling jokes, singing songs and graffiting his ‘travelling’ packaging.

Just as well they weren’t pulled up on the way!
