Hello; my name is Andrew Burns and, along with my wife, I have lived in Edinburgh for over 30-years now :-)
I got the ‘blipping-bug’ back in 2013/14, when I kept a daily journal for a whole year, all as I prepared to run the Edinburgh Marathon in late May 2014 - at the grand old age of 50!
So, this is my 2nd blipfoto journal (June 2014 onwards) … I probably won't attempt an entry every day this time around, and will focus on:
* our ongoing walking-exploits
… (thus the journal title – I run a monthly, informal walking-group!)
* my long-standing love of poetry
* and our equally, much-loved, nearby allotment
I’m currently Deputy Chair of the ‘Accounts Commission for Scotland’ (having been a Member since August 2018); am also undertaking a part-time PhD at the University of Edinburgh Business School (since January 2020); and am Chair of the Edinburgh Union Canal Society (since January 2022).
Most recently, I was Convener (Chair) of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) from 2018 to 2023; and immediately prior to that role I was Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council from 2012 to 2017.
