I have loved photography for many years and was first inspired by an exhibition called "Let Truth Be The Prejudice" featuring the wonderful, powerful images of W.Eugene Smith at the Barbican in London. It really inspired my love of black and white photography and I then learnt about other superb photographers including Josef Koudelka, Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau, Robert Frank, Edwin Smith and Larry Towell to name but a few. I soon learnt how to process film at home and print my own images and that fascinated me and increased my interest.
Through some strange connections I eventually managed to secure a job as an assistant to a photographer at an auction house in London and learnt all about large format cameras and how to shoot artworks. I'm still there twenty years later and now photograph paintings for a living!
More recently, I've got into colour digital photography and have become obsessed with street photography, taking part in many instructions for the Street Photography Now Community - I love going out with my camera not knowing what I will photograph or see!
I always have my camera with me, and take images wherever I am and of whatever interests me. I've also discovered other great photographers like Mark Power, Mitch Bernstein, Edward Burtynsky and Simon Norfolk. I also joined Flickr and recently completed a 365 Project.
