In the 1970's, I trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in Illustration and Printmaking.  I have taken up photography again after a gap of many years. I started bliping on a sabbatical to Italy in 2012 under the name Northeast_shooter. At that time I was living and working in Aberdeen. With the rise of nationalism, my wife and I decided it was time to relocate to Italy.

Since December 2016, I have been resident and based permanently in Lazio, Italy. I paint, print and photograph the landscape on a full time basis. I can be found on many platforms under the name Lazio_Lad, so I decided I should update my Blipfoto account.

Having previously worked in film based black and white I progressed to digital photography via teaching  computer digital manipulation in Corel, Painter and the Adobe suite. These days I edit on Mac with photoshop CS5 and Nik plugins. I am currently using a Nikon 5300 with 18-105 and 50-200 as my carry everywhere camera.  I also use a Nikon D750 for planned shoots with a sigma 24mm1 -1.4 , Manfrotto tripod with geared head and quick release plate, set of ND Grads, polarizer and uv ( for those curious about such things.)  Pretty basic set of kit but it rises to most challenges.

I have been snapping away since I relocated to Italy; in between fixing up the house and generally organising all the paperwork required when relocating to another country. However, come autumn 2018 I hope to be out early in the morning with the full frame and tripod trying to capture the light and locations I have been scouting. Then after 'cornetto and cafe' I will be in the studio working during the day.
Update unfortunately I was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and work especially photography has come to a standstill as I have coped with fairly terrible side effects from chemotherapy . However, still love living in Italy !
