27 January 2021: Started this caper on New Year’s Day, so been at it for nearly a month now. Time to come out of the closet as a fully-fledged Blipper.
Taking one photo a day doesn’t sound like much, but the whole Blipfoto process does take a bit of getting used to. It takes a bit of thinking, and a bit of planning, and needs to be consciously slotted into your schedule each day. Leaving it for later invites a last-minute panic, which can stimulate creativity for some, but is best avoided for me.
Sounds like a bit of a chore - and let’s face it, it sometimes is - but I do like the touch of challenge and self-discipline blipping can bring to each day.
Never been big on diaries or journals, but do find it interesting to see how selecting the photo influences the words used in the journal, and vice-versa, too.
Been interested in photography for quite a while now, but think I might’ve been dazzled a little too much by the fancy camera gear side of things, often to the detriment of taking pictures. My bad.
But blipping helps persuade me to dust off my gear, and to get out there and actually take some pictures with it. Hence my Blipfoto name.
Update: sold off heaps of cameras and lenses accumulated over the years, only keeping those I couldn’t let go - and could comfortably carry their weight.
But my new iPhone is the real camera gear hero here: it’s just about always with me, has a large HD screen and a 5x optical zoom; and even a touch of macro. ‘Nuff said.
