Last day

My last full day in Beijing and of the trip was spent mooching around the jaw-dropping wonder of the Forbidden City. I'm really pleased I hadn't booked an organised trip to this, as I was free to wander at my own pace. It's a powerful, wonderful place and I loved every minute of my time there.

A stroll later in the day took me to a couple of parks and I liked how this elderly man was teaching people how to write Chinese script on the ground using a large brush.

I must go back to Beijing - I found it a place of striking contrasts, fascinating culture, wonderful (if a bit scary) food and friendly people.
