Doune Castle

The Bros refining their sword skills in the inner courtyard of Doune Castle.

Our Historic Scotland membership cards got dusted off and put to good use this afternoon with a visit to Doune Castle. We've not used them much since the October break so it was high time the boys had more castle adventures.

With wee Bro4 now running around and avoiding his pram if he possibly can, the first stop when we arrived was the shop to get him a sword like his Big Bros. He got a little version of their swords, very cute, if a sword can be described that way?!

After exploring all the rooms, climbing up to the ramparts, fighting over listening to the audio guides, running around the courtyard and teaching Bro4 the finer points of sword fighting The Bros were still full of energy.

We walked along the river bank following the nature trail and it lived up to it's name with Buzzards flying overhead and lots of salmon leaping high out of the water on their way upstream. 'That's totally cool!' The Bros said. High praise indeed :-)
