Day 12 Silver Gull Portrait

The Silver Gull or Australian Gull (Larus novaehollandiae) is Australia's equivalent of the UK's black-headed gull.  Much the same size and colouring, but without the black head.  Their most striking feature is the white iris to their eyes.

Much like back at home (Scotland), they hang out around car parks and shore sides looking for scraps discarded by visitors.
This one was sitting on the railings at Kangaroo Bay near Hobart.

PS
This reminds me of the film 'Watership Down' - because of the song "White Eyes" (Yes, I know).
