Underneath: Underclass in the Underground

Today I lunched in the food court in the tunnels underneath Toronto's downtown office towers. Everyone eating was like me: white collar, employed, chatting meaningless chatter with their colleagues.

And this bag lady passed by dressed in layers of cast off clothing, pulling her belongings in a shopping cart. She stopped to straighten her hair then she walked on to her destination. Or just walked on to keep moving.

There are layers upon layers.
