tempus fugit

Moving pictures

Have spent a busy day in Oxford, the city where I went to school, worked, lived and had my children. Although I'm a native of Wales and have returned there, I know Oxford like the back of my hand. It's very different to the quiet rural area in which I now live.

Today I dipped into an exhibition about Shelley, perused the Museum of the History of Science with my elder son who'd come to meet me from Reading, revisited the Castle (formerly the city gaol), walked along the canal, met up with an old school friend, then we all went to dazzling performance of Marlowe's Doctor Faustus - which was actually put on in the huge and famous Blackwell's bookshop.

So what to blip? Spires and bikes and punts are all Oxford clichés that I photographed. Graffiti and murals and beggars and buskers feature too. But when I looked at all the images it was this one that appealed most; again, a very Oxford scene - a bunch of students manhandle a series of paintings down a 'ye olde' type of street. I only managed to capture one but I liked the way the picture appears to be moving on its own two feet.
