Pirates' graveyard

Up in the hills above the Church Ope Cove and through a wooded area lies the ruined church of St Andrews. Once the main place of worship for Portlanders and built in the 13th century, it has been destroyed by landslips and invasions of French pirates.

Amongst the ruins lay a little graveyard, known as Pirates' Graveyard because of the grave stones have skulls and crossbones engraved...
