Indoor Sunset

The big game was kind of a yawner for a while, as it was mostly a defensive game; although it was pretty stunning to see the Patriots offense neutralized as it was. The score was in the single digits until the fourth quarter and the second and third quarters were essentially scoreless (NE completed a scoring drive in the first play of the second quarter). Much like many basketball games, the most excitement was in the last 2 minutes.

This was my favorite play of the game: At 3rd and 5 on the NY 44 with 1:15 left in the game, Eli Manning somehow extracted himself from what looked like a sure sack and managed to launch a deep pass. It was essentially a jump ball and David Tyree nabbed it above his head between two defenders barely keeping control of the ball against his helmet as he was tackled. That was a 32 yard gain putting NY deep in Patriot territory with a fresh set of downs. Four plays later, Manning threw the game winning touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress (his first name sounds to me like an anti-depressant trade name).

This is a shot I took between the 3rd and 4th quarter through a beveled glass window at sunset.
