Particles & Waves

Peggy's Cove, NS

Vacation 2009: The Maritimes. Day 5. The famous (and sometimes infamous) Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. If this is not THE tourist Mecca of Nova Scotia (that or the Bluenose II), I don't know what is. It's a lovely place, but I'd hate to live there. A million or more tourists a year pass through here. The lighthouse is on a rolling rock face. Pretty and very dangerous. Every year some tourists fall in, slip in, or are washed in despite lots of warnings everywhere. Sadly, some do not survive. I took this shot from further back because it was different and showed the beauty of the place without a hundred tourists crawling all over it. The restaurant is to be avoided. The food was mediocre and seriously overpriced. If you want a souvenir, look no further than the attached tourist shop.

Back-blipped 13 March 2011.
