Yummy supper

I didn't much care for Jamie Oliver's series where he chucked everything into a wood-burning oven outdoors, but he's definitely redeemed himself with his current series 30-Minute Meals. Over in Carl's after today's music session (which I hosted, and for which I had everything ready much earlioer than usual), we watched a recording of a Jamie episode which involved what sounded like a really nice vegetarian lasagne. It was Carl's odea to actually try it for real when we'd finished watching, and that's what we did.

The advantage of having watched a recording was that we could watch it again and pause it as we followed it step by step. The meat substitute which ended up between the layers of pasta involved asparagus, scallions, peas and broad beans, given body by a Carl-special bechamel sauce. It all came together really well, and looked remarkably similar the original article when it came out of the oven and out from under the grill. Served with Jamie's Tuscan tomato salad, it all made for a really yummy supper.
