Starry Eyed Surprise

Hawk Eyes

We were at Gleneagles today for Claire's first falconry lesson.

She had a great time learning the basics of how to handle and train a Harris Hawk.

She was using Codiene, a young Harris Hawk, who was quite a feisty bird.

Today she was learned about weighing the bird before flying, basic handling techniques and calling him to her glove.

He seems to enjoy the chick treats he was getting when he landed on her glove.
Claire was getting the hang of catching the tresses on his legs and adjusting his leash.

I was impressed how fast he spotted and pounced on the rabbit lure that he was training with and how attentive he was to Instructor Tom.

She was absolutely buzzing when the lesson was over even if she was a little cold.

A hot chocolate soon sorted that out. I think I'll be booking the next lesson very soon.

Had a migraine yesterday, so this is my back blip.
