IDEST-ed

IDEST is the Inspectorate for Diving Equipment Servicing & Testing. Diving cylinders usually contain air compressed to 232bar or 3365psi. For safety reasons all cylinders have to be tested at regular intervals. Each cylinder has a visual inspection every 2.5 years and a hydrostatic test every 5 years. If a cylinder fails, the test centre will destroy it to prevent it going back into circulation and causing an accident.

These two are just back from the test centre and passed with flying colours - phew. The blue sticker tells me, and anyone filling the cylinders, that they have been IDEST-ed at an approved centre and are due for a visual inspection in September 2013. Now they just need twinning up again.
