Murky morning

Still struggling with that hour forward, far too early to be getting up and facing the day. Misty murkiness first thing with the hint of promise, but the sun never actually arrived. The air is full of smoke as last night one of the mountains caught alight. This happens every year - the gorse is set alight purposely, gets out of control and rips across the mountain. No-one seems to know who is doing it or why - various explanations are offered, keeping the gorse down, helps the grass, tradition. Whatever, it's horrible to see and very dangerous as each year someone's land gets burnt and homes are threatened. And then there's all the damage to the wildlife.

Two sad things on my journey to work - a dead otter, followed a few miles later by a dead mink. The otter was large and handsome, such a shame to see him.The mink too - many years ago animal activists broke into a mink farm and released the animals. They are not much liked around here due to their ferocious natures.

Art house tonight - Uncle Boonmee who can recall his Past Lives!!! I know nothing about this but will report back.
