Doing Things Differently

Wren

Not a good day for birding, or so I thought.

Despite the sky being overcast, the breeze being cool and it raining on and off, the hide was packed when I arrived. There was a Sanderling on the new causeway, which for me was a year tick. Later, when the crowds had thinned, a Snipe flew from Large Island. Another year tick, taking me to 108 for 2011, 98 on the SIBG patch.

Before going to the hide, I had wandered down the canal at Woodlesford. This Wren was deep in the bushes next to the viewing screen that looks out over the River Aire. Its not a great picture, but it was singing its heart out, which is how I felt when I later spotted my two year ticks.
