El alcohol de Mexico...

We had mexican cheese cake for tea tonight.

This prompted calls for someone to go out and get some Corona and also bandied about were the urban myths or whatever about the origin of the lime in the Corona and the worm in the Tequila.

I was told that the lime was because in the days of yore, the beer was bottled in any old bottle that could be procured and the bottling techniques left a lot, including sanitation, to be desired. The lime is rubbed round to the bottle neck to sanitise it. Furthar internet investigation told me it's either this or it's merely used as a plug to stop flys getting in.

The tequila on the other hand, we had no speculation or idea as to it's origin. Again, internet investigation told me that there just isn't any real reason for the worm to be in the tequila bottle other than a rather fancy marketing campaign back in the 1940s or something.
