It's finally Saturday. A weekend, a few moments to breathe, to relax. This morning was dinos and donuts at the zoo, which began at 8:00am. No sleeping in for me. I was a bit grumpy upon waking up this morning, but the cool shower helped and I was excited to be off on our Saturday adventure.

The Zoo in Fort Worth is fantastic. However, most of the time it's not as crowded as I would imagine. That's probably because I became a member at the start of the off season. Today before 8:00am the zoo was swarming with kiddos, parents and strollers and other accouterments in tow. And that was beating the crowd. We got our free donuts and milk, or coffee ( plus bonus bottles of water) and starting meandering around the zoo on the lookout for Dinos! The animatronics were incredible. Fluid movements, surround sound and good body work. The T-Rex was pretty scary as we cruised by on our free train ride.

We wandered for about two hours; the best two hours of the day for seeing interesting animal dynamics: ie: the social order of the Bonobo monkeys as the consume they morning lettuces and orange slices. Even the Rhino was splashing about in his water hole, enjoying a morning dip. As we headed towards the exit, I was thankful for the early wake up call; I shouldn't have let it rustle my tail feathers!

We stopped off for fresh baguettes to pair with tonight's menu of a cold salmon salad and a cheese board. And it is actually a rather cheap meal to whip together.

Also stopped off and wandered around the antique mall--OMG the treasures one can find there. Photos from that place are sure to show up in my journal soon.

This afternoon calls for reading and maybe a bike ride!

Happy Saturday to all!
Cheers,
L
