Lake District : Day 4

After two days of torrential rain, the sun came out and we decided on a six mile circular walk around the lower half of the valley, starting at Ulpha Post Office. I chose this image, as the telephone box is rather essential in these parts - there is no mobile signal in the valley. I also liked the VR (Victoria Regina)postbox - there can't be many of these around now. This is Postman Pat's valley, his van drives along between the high stone walls, and goes over the bridge at Seathwaite. We saw Postlady Patricia driving his van, Pat must have been on his holidays.

We trudged through the mud in Rainbarrow Wood, enjoyed the waterfall at the Bobbin Mill Bridge, walked up to the ruins at Frith Hall with great views up the valley, then on through the forest to Beckfoot and back up to Ulpha through the Forge Woods. I just love all these place names. There were carpets of wild daffodils everywhere, we even spotted some deer. No baby lambs here as yet.
