The Mongolian Festival
We were at Germany's Only Mongolian festival today which is held in the City Of Bears. There were yurts, people in Mongolian costume, pony riding, archery stands and a big stall selling Bratwurst and beer. The place was mobbed.
And there was Mongolian wrestling. This consisted of young chaps grappling with each other until one threw the other and then some blokes at a table would cheer and that was the bout over. I may have missed some of the nuances of the sport there. The chap wearing the blue thingy ended up as today's champion. The chap all in red has the best hat of the day though.
In other news, there was more painting of wood in the garden, some shifting of plants and then a very fine evening meal. Some very tasty mushrooms were found in the freezer and proved themselves to be even tastier after cooking. Some carrots & celeriac made a very nice accompaniment, as did the beetroot dish (I love the colour of beetroot) and I ate millet for the first time. It won't be the last, millet is very tasty. All very nice as we sat out in the garden and enjoyed the last of sunshine listening to the German Shepherd somewhere down the street barking dementedly. A good Sunday.
