The President Is Coming

The German President was in Wiesbaden today. He got quite a welcome. Still, I think he took it in good spirit.

Of course I had nothing to do with that malarkey and would have been utterly oblivious to his presence if it hadn't been for the crowd in front of the Rathaus and an unusually large police presence. We hung around so that I could see what he looked like - I had no idea. I would have blipped him but as soon as he appeared, the mild mannered crowd turned into space invaders.

I did like this picture though - I like the Big Gloves (I think we can call them gauntlets) and the shades - I like the whole "don't mess with me" vibe he's trying to get going there. It very nearly works. And the young policeman looks like he's trying ever so hard to be "vigilant". Good on him.

In other news, I was formatting a script for a tv program today and read one of the most odd names I think I've ever seen. The program was about elephants and one of the male elephants was called Magina. Now it might just be me but I find that name ever so slightly strange.

I think someone will be called that before the week is out. And I hope it isn't me.
