Blue and Lilac

This morning the sky was playing at winter,
a dismal curtain, grey and dull.
Now it is deep blue, flavoured with lilac,
tinged with jackdaw and sunlit gull.

Flowers again - it was a choice of lilac or honesty, today. Both beautiful, but the deep blue, cloudless sky set off the young lilac so well that it won the toss. I liked the strong shadows on the lilac leaves, too.
