Bluebell Wood

We can see this wood from our windows and watch it slowly turning blue this time of year. Lovely path up through it, the scent is heavenly. Bluebells are just my absolute favourite.

I met an elderly man walking in the lane today who lived here as a child. He remembers all the fields being woods, just like the bluebell wood. But then the government in their wisdom decided to pay people to clear land, and massive trees were torn up. When the fields are ploughed, we can still see the huge patches of charcoal where the branches were burnt. Nowadays the government pay people to plant trees, crazy world. We are lucky this small patch of wood remains, a reminder of the past.

Last year I made Bluebell Flower Essence. Haven't proved it to my satisfaciton yet, but other people say it encourages balance in life and has a spiritual quality to it. The change would be subtle - positive changes in eating, sleeping, dreaming, energy, thinking.
