Western Trillium

Blooming patches of Western Trillium (trillium ovatum) in the forests and canyons signal the beginning of Spring in the Pacific Northwest. Although the petals are white, they will eventually turn translucent, and almost clear, shortly before falling to the ground.

And blooming in her own glowing translucent style today, my favorite tour partner, presenter, and confidant... - Happy Birthday Sharon!
