Beautiful perennial

I find it touching that the 18th century naturalist Linnaeus, who invented the scientific system of naming that is now aplied to all life forms, gave the name 'beautiful' to the humble daisy bellis perennis. Of all the plants, animals, birds, fishes, insects - living or extinct - he decided this was the species to be called bellis meaning 'beautiful'.

He would have examined it at close range and seen the wonderful symmetry and complexity that generally goes unnoticed.

I had blipper's block at lunchtime and my colleague L came to the rescue with this suggestion. Thank you L.
