Chili Cool

Last year my son spent four months in Sichuan province, China, and he is missing the wonderful Sichuanese cuisine. So when we were in London today on a family outing we went to the Chili Cool restaurant between King's Cross and Bloomsbury.

The piece de resistance was the huge bowl of Leng Guo fish (on the left) which is pieces of delciate white fish in a hot spicy smokey aromatic sauce. All the dishes were delicious; J says they are exactly like he had in Sichuan.

We also spent some time in the British Museum and at the South Bank Centre, which is 60 years old today. It was opened for the Festival of Britain in 1951. The Today programme was broadcast from there - we heard it in the car on the way up.

There is a South Asian festival on, and we enjoyed looking round the Indian market in the square behind the Royal Festival Hall. One stall had some very bright paintings.

If you like your Chili Peppers Red Hot, you might enjoy this. Play loud and several times over.
