A Collector of Oddities

Good Friday

Early blip for me but that is because I have been waiting weeks to post this. It was about to clash with my 100th (which I have also been waiting weeks to post) so I had to have an artificial day off the other day to make it all fit.

A fitting image for Good Friday but look a bit closer at the cross. This is WW1 trench art. Many soldiers were very skilled at making things out of old bullet casings and whatever they could find lying around. One of the best I saw was a little chess set all made out of casings.

I love this, not only for the ingeniousness of it but because of the irony of Jesus being made out of bullets! I hope it brought some comfort to its maker in the trenches.
