The night of Holy Thursday (Dijous Sant) in our village, which luckily lasted until into Good Friday (Divendres Sant) so that I could use a photo here!

We knew something was happening but didn't quite know what... until a legion a lot of Roman soldiers came marching up our street on the way to the church, with drums beating loudly. It was quite scary.

After a while they went into the church and in due course came out with the statue of Mary on a float followed by the huge statue of Jesus on the cross, (both of which live in the church permanently). These were solemnly carried around the centre of the village... in the pouring rain by this time, but it had been forecast... and then taken back to the church. The soldiers here are just leaving the church at the end of the proceedings.
