Thistle Down

By Ethel

Black-Dog

Big Black dog...
His upper lip hangs.
With a wrinkling up nose,
Showing his fangs.

Grey hairs reaching,
Coming out of his head.
With a bunch of dry-weeds,
To make his bed.

Curdling my blood,
By the look in his eye.
To snap off my head,
Would take only one try.

Barking and growling,
And wanting to get free.
Just a mad...animal trying,
To get out at me.

Big...Black dog,
Don't let my legs fall.
I can see you want to eat me,
Chew me up...bones and all.
