Peninsula Light

By PeninsulaLight

Cycle to work route, on the Black Isle. A long uphill slog that passes through a section of woodland and forestry. The road has an avenue of beech trees that have just burst in to leaf. Those leaves are always so delicate in their colour and texture for the first week or two.

Pine martins and red squirrels are in the area, with the former seen less frequently since the felling of some of the forestry area. The squirrels are most common in the Autumn, when they come to feed on, and harvest, the beechmast. You'll usually hear them rustling through the fallen leaves before seeing them.
