The Edge of the Wold

Double drumlin

For once today I had every intention of entering this week's challenge of trees. Then I drove to work, and saw this reflection from Sandside. The Kent estuary was perfectly still and mirror-like.

The low green hill in the foreground is a drumlin, made of clay and unsorted boulders, a deposit left behind as the glaciers retreated at the end of last Ice Age. The hill behind is made of limestone.

There are quite a few trees, in fact twice as many as on most days when the water is ruffled by wind, so perhaps this just about qualifies for the challenge.

It was a beautiful day today, I came home early to do some work in the garden. Another long weekend ahead.

Thanks for all the comments, stars and favourites for yesterday's line of ducklings. No, I won't be going back to report on their progress, I don't want to see their numbers dwindling as the days go by. It's when they are at their cutest that they are most vulnerable.
