Caledonian Smiles

The family and the family bike waiting to board the ferry "Caledonian Isles" at Brodick, Arran. The weather is wonderful again today which let me pack the tents dry, makes all the difference. The children ran about with the beachballs until they'd all blown in the river, and sat in the tents playing snap until they'd all been packed. Then off for the ferry via the co-op.

EDIT: Looking this evening on the screen at home, there's Brodick castle on the other side of the bay, visible to the rear of the ferry. Goat fell is the peak above the castle, and our campsite was just to the left of that. A perfect souvenir picture =)

By the way I was a bit worried we'd not be able to buy stuff in Brodick, but the co- op's enormous so no need to bring anything at all really. However Malcolm was determined to bring home some Arran tourist tat, and there basically wasn't any! I said I'd get them all a cheesy Arran t-shirt, but we couldn't find any of those either! So we brought home some free maps and a 25p "Geology of Arran" booklet. Must try harder.

Bit of time to kill in Ardrossan maybe we'll play the penny falls in the arcades to complete the "holiday from another era" vibe.

Photo taken with Hipstamatic and cropped in Photoshop Express. Photo posted from the ferry as we approached the mainland. Photo taken by Mark, who I bumped into with his family at the ferry car park. I haven't seen him for years since we worked together, so another nice memory.
