Sunbeams

Spring evening

A pleasant day although we had a few claps of thunder but no rain, just a few drops. After having a barbeque lunch nearby with some friends - barbequed partridge! - we returned to the farm and checked up on the animals, all was well. The young Hereford calves get very frisky and inquisitive in the evening before going to bed and here are some who weren't at all nervous and came to see what I was doing. The one in front with the horns is the older sister and a mother is also keeping an eye in the background. The little metal hut with a calf nearby is a creep feeder - the young calves can go and eat calf nuts but the mothers are not able to reach the food.
