Rombakstotta

The morning started nicely in beautiful bluebird sky and finally we saw a change to visit one very majestic peak near the cottage we have been staying for several years. Usually the snow is not stable enought for this but now things might be different and we decided to give it a go.

Rombakstotta (the little matterhorn) in Narvik is a peak with several steep couloirs ending directly to the fjord and you can easily get a more than 1000m of vertical skiing. We started the trip from Narvik side, took a lift to top and skied the Tredjetoppen to get to the place where the actual route up started to the peak.

After 3 hours of skiing with our skins and climbing we were at the top. The snow conditions were good also at the top of the peak. Here you can see Mr.M and Mr.T just minutes before we started our way down at one of the couloirs. What a great day.

PS: three days later when the weather warmed up all the main couloirs of Rombakstotta came down. Good timing ;)
