Columbines, comets and heat-seeking missiles

There are so many varieties and hybrids of Aquilegia - also known as Columbine - that it is almost impossible to tell which one this is (if anyone can, let me know). Beautiful strong colours in this variety, though we have others with more subtle, pastel shades.

Life in the garden reached traumatic proportions this morning when I happened to look out of the conservatory to see a very large crow disappearing over the fence with one of my goldfish - a Sarassa Comet, to be precise - wriggling in its beak. Sadly, but not surprisingly, the crow was oblivious to the flood of industrial language that pursued it. We made an immediate trip to the local garden centre for nylon netting to stretch over the pond.

I was wondering if the demise of Bin Laden might lead to some heat-seeking ground-to-air missiles appearing on the market ....... a couple of small ones would suffice.
