Bob

Pontiac, Illinois. This wagon was home to Bob Waldmire; artist, conservationist, vegetarian (though he invented the corn dog). He spent his time in Arizona in this vehicle, and had a VW Campervan to get him back to Springfield Illinois.

He died in December 2009, having spent many years fighting against hunters, trappers, people who wanted to destroy the old and replace it with the new, especially on Route 66. He's part of Route 66 lore and one of it's most colourful characters. The wagon and Campervan are now in Pontiac's Route 66 museum. Billy Connolly was here two days ago, filming a new travel documentary based on Route 66

Correction: Bob's father invented the corn dog!
