Varied accommodation options in Glasgow

A Russian friend once came to visit Glasgow, and was overjoyed to see 'tall buildings', the slightly less negative Russian term for what we call tower blocks. She was living in Edinburgh's New Town and was pining for ugly architecture! It made us laugh, but there is a real parallel to draw - Edinburgh is like St. Petersburg, the centre is full of lovely old buildings and the ugly modern ones are hidden on the outskirts. Glasgow is like Moscow, where something has fallen down, the space has been built on, so everything is all jumbled up! I rather like the mixture myself.
