Hauf an Hauf

Half Thistle Street, Edinburgh. If I said that nothing happened today, that would be an understatement. If I said that was a bad thing, I'd be wrong. If I told you that next door to Half Thistle Street is Zero Thistle Street on one side, with One Thistle Street on the other, I'd be making it up. But today was a blank canvas to put your own meaning on.

The "Hauf an Hauf" is a traditional Scottish way of getting very drunk indeed. Half a gill of whisky and half a pint of beer. Nowadays it's rather less whisky, but there's plenty of bars you can walk into and order a hauf an hauf. It even gets a mention on Whiskipedia. See? I'm not making it up.
