Something Special

Tonight , a shot taken from the comfort of our old bedroom. Far too wild and wet to go outside for a shot , the gales might have blown me away.

This rhodedendron bush complete with it's little Disney friend is very special to us. About 20 years ago we took our youngest to Florida and still cherish the memories of that first visit. We did all the usual things families do , each of us having special moments there. One of John's " moments" lasted over an hour with the anticipation of meeting his favourite Dwarf " Dopey" . He did actually wait in a queue for just over an hour to have his photograph taken with Dopey and was thrilled to get a dyslexic autograph with the "p" in the signature reversed!

So Dopey , in the form of this small garden figure , came home with us. To complete this tale I spotted this wonderful bush at Crarae Gardens and guess what ? It was called Dopey. The label is still there on the plant after about 10 years and is still clear enough to read. This was the first thing we would see every morning before we moved up to the new attic room which has wonderful views over the loch

The blooms last for about a month. I had hoped to get it with some nice light but the sun only came out when the bloom was just beginning to bud. It's been raining ever since.

Hope you are having decent weather wherever you are.
