A Sasanach's Skye photos

Two young visitors

Getting out onto the hills is not easy at the moment so I have to make do with images closer to home. Here I have captured two young visitors wrapped up well to protect themselves from the strong cold wind and the frequent heavy showers.

They are looking down to the beach above the harbour and across to the pier. Just about everyone who comes to Portree will come and admire this view so reminiscent of Tobermory with its brightly coloured buildings.

Normally I would recommend visitors to come to Skye in May because it is usiually warm and noirmally they would not be bothered with Midges. This season appears to be the exception to the rule. This year we had almost three weeks of hot sunny weather in April which has been followed by a cold, wet and windy May. In fact it is so cold and wet that for the second day in a row we have lit the stove in the restaurant.

Mind you what with that lit and the lantern in the window lit too, it gives the place a really rustic and warm feel that appears to be well appreciated by our diners.
