Dublin Shooter

Weathered in spots

Had to go in to town this afternoon for last-minute present searching for a 40th Birthday party tomorrow evening. Got something reasonably suitable, which meant I could relax and blip-wander. I was just around Grafton St and Dawson St and Kildare Street, really, which is all familiar territory. But Blip leads to new discoveries, even in the most familiar places. This is a view of the archway above the entrance to St Anne's church in Dawson Street. Some of the stonework is badly weathered, but it's still pretty impressive.

Other blips included well-advanced construction beside the Gaiety Theatre in South King Street, some civic-minded fund-raisers not afraid of making fools of themselves at St Patrick's Weekend, and the portico of Dublin's Mansion House.

I got caught in the city centre just as the rush hour was winding itself up, so I stayed on and had a bite to eat rather than face the hassle of clogged roads on the way home. Thanks to a recommendation from Archangel I bought and began to read Philip K Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Back home, it's now time to get the house ready for tomorrow's Music Group invasion and to get myself into the mood for the Patrick's Weekend celebrations, the 40th Birthday party, and Sunday's lunch get-together to watch the Australian Grand Prix ...

... oh, and there's the little matter of doing something to mark the fact that tomorrow's will be my 300th blip.
