Ramada Hotel

A quiz.
Today I was in :-
A). Azerbaijan
B). Kazakhstan
C). Manchester
The answer is C Manchester.
I've always loved this hotel with it's brutalist architecture.
This is a view of it from New York St. and shows the back of the hotel.
The curved driveway you see was part of the opening titles of The Simon Dee Show in the 60's, where we saw Simon zooming around in his little car and being the coolest man on the BBC.
It boasts the 'Howard Keel' suite named after the great man, who always stayed here when he attended his golf classic in Cheshire.
It was also used in the classic 60's film 'Charlie Bubbles' starring Albert Finney and Billie Whitelaw.
Bassey and Tom Jones have sung here!
Sadly it's not the greatest hotel that Manchester now has to offer and it's history is forgotten, but it is certainly worth a visit, with it's sadly disappearing look, great position and view over Piccadilly gardens.
This view can be accessed by having a drink in its department store styled Arts Brasserie cafe and restaurant.
