The Edge of the Wold

Vespa

Another day of cloud and rain in the north west. So, having taken no photos all day, I spent a little time after work in the shadiest part of the garden trying to get another photo of a bee in flight. When along came a wasp. The original of him wasn't too sharp, so I've been experimenting with Photoshop to try and get a more artistic effect. I quite liked this, the colours of the Nectaroscordum flower and wasp are preserved, as are the details of the legs and one of the antennae.

This is peak time in our garden for bees, the Rosa moyesii is in full flower, the Nectaroscordums are at their best and the alkanets are still going strong. Even on a poor weather day like to day, the garden hums.
